Eukalin’s Adhesives forPaper StrawProduction

Typically, paper straws are consisting of 3 plies of paper with a small amount of adhesive between layers which are manufactured on a core winding machine to produce paper straws. However, a careful selection of the paper and adhesive quality is needed because of it’s significant impact on the performance of the paper straw and the efficiency of manufacture. EUKALIN has developed new adhesive products for the use in paper straw manufacturing which provide good bonding strength to support fast production speeds and efficient production. The adhesives needs to be in compliance with various food compliance specifications  such as BFR and FDA’s. Once the paper straw is in use, the bond needs to hold up the straw and ensure straw integrity when immersed in liquids.

In recent test series the EUKALIN adhesive products had undergone serious production tests accompanied with deep analysis of produced straws, finally  confirming the products do offer superior liquid immersion properties (e.g. cold soft drinks, alcohol, hot liquids) with straw integrity above 2 h. The adhesives were easy to process on current machines and operators confirmed best bonding results in class together with superior wet tack, high efficiency and “hassle-free” running.
